Passion & Players

Arise, awake and stop not until the goal is reached, said Swami Vivekananda.
All have goals, ambitions, vision about future but one lynch-pin that takes you near that destiny much quicker is “PASSION”

Passion may seem a 7 letter word but weighs a lot. Passion is something that encompasses potential, performance, strength, resilience, skill, success, hardwork, discipline, no fear of failure.....everything comes with Passion. These need not be imbued individually.

A passionate performer is always the best and the toughest competitor and mostly to an unrivalled extent. Passionate are talented, the rest are trained.

The best examples for passionate people are athletes and artists.

Nadia Comaneci : A 4 feet 11 inches girl, all of just 14 years of age and 86 pound body, when she jumped onto the mat from the uneven parallel bars, she defined what perfection is. This Romanian girl scored the first “Perfect 10” in 1976 Montreal Olympics in Canada. She later exclaimed, "I knew my routine was flawless". And this is because of the passion she has for gymnastics. Do you think at that tender age, she knew all the words – Focus, Commitment, Discipline, Concentration, Perseverance? May not be, but she knew how to perform passionately and that gave her many plaudits and brought laurels to her nation.

Sachin Tendulkar, Indian God of Cricket, set out and scored 140 runs unbeaten just after he returned from his beloved father’s funeral. Not everyone can show this resilience and passion towards their profession. One may say, he was crazy, instead of staying home in bereavement, he ventured out to play. But it will be foolish to think so, given the passion he has for the game and love towards it, that made him an unrivalled and indomitable characters of the game of Cricket. Great Character!

Lance Armstrong, whose yellow wrist bands and jerseys are very famous, use to practice 16 hours, 4 hours of theory, 4 hours sleep. Where did he get all the energies from? No human can perform that way but only a passionate one can do. Passion gives that extra boost and that does not come with training, the fire is innate and is more emotional. His will power helped him to surmount his health having being a cancer survivor. Most would stay in the bed than dare do such things. The domineering genius in him is his Passion. Great man!

Michael Phelps, Oh Boy! Actions speak louder than words, he did the reverse, he announced he would win 8 Gold and he did it in style. Yes, Passion gifts you with no fear of failure. It gives you boost for every next attempt and you grow stronger and get more infallible. Truly a shark in the pool!

These are all ordinary human beings like you and me, they too were stared by their parents with hands-on-hips, they too were frowned for their mischief but what they have is a burning desire in them, that fire in the belly for one thing and that took them to success effortlessly. Passion is innate.

Socrates said, when you want success as badly as you want air, you will get it. There is no other secret of success. And that want is PASSION.
